OUR STORY

The idea of a church in the Carson Valley was birthed into the heart of Pastor Leo in February of 1990 while he resided as an elder for Great Falls Christian Center, MT (now New City Church). The Krugers and four other families said, ‘Yes!’ to the Holy Spirit and moved to Gardnerville, NV in August of 1990 to see what God would do.

In November 1990, VCF had its first, meager worship service in Pastor Leo’s living room. The home church continued to grow by word-of-mouth, and meet weekly for worship services. Early in 1991, services were moved to the wedding chapel located inside the Carson Valley Inn with 44 people in attendance. Over the years VCF moved eight different times until we finally found our current, permanent location in 2018.

Despite the changes of locations, our vision to share the Good News of Jesus, equip believers to live a life of faith, and raise up new generations of church leaders and Christ followers has remained steadfast. With God’s grace we have been privileged to serve the local Carson Valley community and missions worldwide for 33 years. We continue to be excited to follow where Spirit leads us.

Some of our favorite memories and events include:

  • Spirit Fest, a public gathering of 19 churches to worship God in unity and preach the gospel (2008)
